The primary advantage of v4.0 is its error recovery capability. Prior to v4.0, Document Detective would stop if it encountered an error while processing a file. This was considered a “fail safe” approach, and there was a manual procedure for dealing with problems by using diagnositic files. The new release is capable of recovering automatically from most errors. When an error occurs, v4.0 will restart and skip over the object that caused the error. Skipped objects are reported in a Exception Log file that the reviewer must accept to complete the review process.

Another significant change is the retirement of the Review Checklist in the Content Browser. This capability has been replaced with the new Checklist Viewer, which is much more user friendly. The Content Browser is still available, but it will only be needed by expert reviewers and forensics examiners.
